Tank Painting Surface Preparation/Sandblasting

You can use the best coating/paint products in the world, but if the surface is not prepared properly before the application, premature failure of the coating and deterioration of the substrate metal is inevitable. Our tank Coating Specialists study each project and determine the optimum approach to surface preparation based on site specific conditions such as tank materials, existing corrosion, humidity and other environmental conditions.

Tank Coating

BIS offers a variety of industrial tank coating services. These specialized coatings are performed with professional industrial equipment by license and trained experts in the field. Tank coatings are important because there are many instances where chemicals can leak from corroded tanks into the environment. Additionally, not just for safety reasons, but the tank coatings help prolong the life on the tank, thus protecting the asset of the company longer. Replacement costs can be awfully expensive for tanks and it’s a much better practice to coat the tank whenever it starts to rust or corrode.

Oil Spill Response

BIS is a certified oil spill first responder, obtaining GLO and OSRO certifications this is something we take very seriously minimizing waste and most importantly maintaining safety throughout the project. BIS handles all three major phases in Oil Spill Response:

Storage

Oil  and  oily debris  collected offshore  and  in  shallow  water  areas  by mechanical measures (i.e., skimmers, booms, pumps, sorbents, etc.) may be transferred into vessels listed below:

    • Portable tanks on recovery vessels,
    • Containers (i.e., roll-off boxes) on recovery vessels/barges,
    • Shallow water barges,
    • Tank trucks,
    • Towable bladders,
    • Frac tanks,
    • Barrels

Transfer

Oily debris will be segregated by types (i.e., sorbents, vegetation, sand, trash, etc.) and placed on a barge or container in a manner that will not allow seepage to occur. Oily debris will be transported in leak proof, sealable containers along with separate containers of recovered oil to temporary storage site(s) onshore that are convenient to the recovery operation.

Disposal

Waste generated during the course of the spill incident will be minimized to the extent possible to reduce associated manpower and expenses. Each waste stream (i.e., recovered oil, oily debris, decontamination wastes, etc.) will be treated separately for waste determination, characterization, and classification. All wastes generated will be managed as required by the BIS Waste Management Plan and the applicable regulation.
